House Rules
Transitioning to a sober living environment allows you to surround yourself with people who understand. Everyone works together to create a clean, safe, stress-free household. All residents follow the same house rules and guidelines. You can’t stay clean in an environment that isn’t clean. RecoveryStream Sober Living requires all residents to adhere to our policies and the inability to follow all rules and guidelines will result in immediate discharge. Responsibility, accountability and consistency are key factors in living a sober successful life and we are here to help you achieve these goals.
HOUSE RULES
- No use of alcohol, mood/mind altering substances. If relapse occurs, clients are discharged from the program immediately.
- Eating Disorder residents must follow their meal plan at all times. Not adhering to your meal plan will be considered relapse.
- Submit to random drug screening/breathalyzer immediately upon request. No exceptions, failure to do so will result in immediate termination of your contract with RecoveryStream Sober Living.
- Must attend a minimum (4)-12 step meetings per week. Meeting list to be turned into staff weekly. If not enrolled in a treatment program you must attend (1)-12 step meeting daily for the first 90 days.
- Must have a Sponsor within the first 7 days of admission. Report the name of your Sponsor to Administrator. Must be willing to sign a release of information for your Sponsor if requested.
- Residents are required to maintain a 12-step Home Group.
- If enrolled in an Outpatient/Day treatment program you must adhere to all treatment guidelines. Being staff discharged from the treatment program could result in termination of your contract with RecoveryStream Sober Living.
- Must be employed within 2 weeks of admission, attending school or volunteering for a minimum of 25 hours per week. Enrollment in an outpatient or day treatment program may be substituted for employment in some cases.
- Job search forms must be turned into administrator at weekly house meeting. No employment in bars, clubs or any other environment deemed unsafe by Administrator. Must obtain approval prior to starting new employment by the Director.
- Attend Mandatory House meeting held each week. Be on time. No Exceptions. Failure to attend a house meeting could be grounds for discharge from RecoveryStream Sober Living.
- Abide by curfew: 10:00 pm on weekdays and 11:00 pm on weekends for the first 30 days. After the first 30 days 11:00 pm on weekdays and 12:00 am on the weekends. Any exceptions must be approved by staff one week prior. No Exceptions.
- Chores are required to be completed daily and will be assigned weekly on a rotating basis. Beds are required to be made upon awakening. Respective areas are to be kept neat, clean and picked up at all times. Failure to compete assigned chore can/will result dismissal from the program.
- Please be mindful of others and your time of use while utilizing shared spaces, such as bathrooms, kitchen prep area i.e- microwave, stove, oven, coffee maker. Dishes must be rinsed and placed into the dishwasher or washed and placed on the dish rack. Respect community areas, as you would expect for others to do.
- Abide by laundry schedule at all times. DO NOT leave laundry in the washer or dryer. Change-over or remove laundry immediately after it is done. Return baskets to their respective place. NO Chlorine bleach allowed. Color safe bleach only. No cleaning products containing bleach is permitted.
- No persons other than residents allowed inside RecoveryStream Sober Living unless staff member is present or prior visitation request is approved. Approved visitors are only allowed on outside patio and/or common living area.
- Overnight guests are strictly prohibited.
- No opposite gender individuals permitted on property unless given written consent from the Director.
- Disruptive/Discourteous behavior will not be tolerated and can/will result in dismissal form RecoveryStream Sober Living.
- All residents and visitors must sign in and out when entering or leaving the property. Failure to do so can result in loss of visitation and/or privileges.
- No eating/borrowing food that does not belong to you. Label all food with your name on it as well as expiration date.
- No borrowing of money, cigarettes, clothing or personal items. If you are in need, see Administrator.
- No entering others living areas without permission and the person being present.
- All medications, vitamins, jewelry and personal items MUST be kept out of sight in a closed space or drawer.
- No nail polish or hair dyes allowed outside of bathroom area. Resident is responsible for any damage caused by such items.
- Smoking inside RecoveryStream Sober Living is strictly prohibited.
- No open flame allowed inside the house, including but not limited to, candles, wax jars, incense, etc.
- No giving outdoor codes. No duplicating community amenity keys (pool, tennis & racquetball courts). If you forget your door code or lose a community key report it immediately to the Director.
- House is to be locked and all doors secured prior to leaving and upon re-entry.
- RecoveryStream Sober Living’s contact information is to be given out only to Sponsor, network or immediate family members.
- RecoveryStream Sober Living is NOT (at any time) responsible for a resident’s belongings or property. Residents are responsible for the security and safekeeping of their own belongings and property.
HOUSE PRIVILEGES
Enjoying overall flexibility is a privilege that can be earned with 2-3 months’ time spent in the home and a proven track record of reliability. If all requirements are met, then residents may enjoy any or all of the following:
- Additional Time: 1 hour added after curfew time
- Vacation Time: 3-day vacation stays with family or approved persons. Must be requested and approved 30 days in advance.
- Grocery Gift Cards: Given to those who have shown the willingness to help in keeping a clean and peaceful home environment.
- Release from chores: Enjoying free time rather than taking part in community chores is always a nice break.
- Family visits: It’s not unusual to have standard family visit days, but extra visits may be available on a case-by-case basis.
- Group outings: Getting to join a group of residents on a special outing paid for by the Director– dining at a restaurant, theme park, paint-ball, movies, bowling, beach, boating, yoga, etc.. Choosing the activity is also part of earned privileges.
- Transit to Meetings: Director will accommodate a group of individuals 1-2x per week who would like to attend a meeting together, generally the larger meetings, where residents can listen to speakers and meet many other experienced individuals who can assist in their recovery.
